GETTING STARTED: BATTERIES INSTALLATION 1. Open the battery compartment cover.2. Insert 2 "AA" batteries observing the polarity (+) and (-) as indicated.3. Replace the battery compartment cover. QUICK SET UP: 1. Once the batteries are in place, all segments of the LCD will light up. Then the indoor temperature, the time as 12:00, the date as 1.1. , and calendar will be displayed. IMPORTANT: If the indoor temperature is not displayed after a few seconds, remove the batteries and wait for at least 30 seconds before reinserting them. 2. The clock automatically will begin to search for the WWVB time signal. After the icon stops flashing on the display (approximately 5 minutes), you can set the time zone. You can stop this auto reception by pressing the MONTH/HOUR/WAVE button. The default time zone is Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you live in the Pacific Time zone move to step 4. 3. To set the time zone:

Slide the SETTING switch to Time.
Press the ALM/ZONE/DST function button for 2 seconds to change the time zone setting to the desired time zone.

EST (Eastern Time Zone)CST (Central Time Zone)MST (Mountain Time Zone) Once the desired time zone is displayed in the panel, slide the switch to the lock position. 4. The WWVB time code reception will automatically start when the clock is powered up. It will automatically set itself to the exact time and date after receipt of the WWVB time code reception. This typically takes over night. For best reception place your clock next to a window facing Colorado over night. Once a successful reception is received relocate your clock to your desired location.

WWVB RADIO CONTROLLED TIME

The NIST radio station, WWVB, is located in Ft. Collins, Colorado and transmits the exact time signal continuously throughout the United States at 60 kHz. The signal can be received up to 2,000 miles away through the internal antenna in the Atomic Clock. However, due to the nature of the Earth's Ionosphere, reception is very limited during daylight hours. The Atomic Clock will search for a signal every night when reception is best. The WWVB radio station derives its signal from the. NIST Atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado. A team of atomic physicists continually measures every second of every day to an accuracy of ten billionths of a second a day. These physicists have created an international standard, measuring a second as 9,192,631,770 vibrations of a Cesium 133 atom in a vacuum. This Atomic Clock regulates the WWVB transmitter. Once the batteries are placed in the battery compartment, the WWVB tower icon in the clock display will start flashing in the center of the LCD. This indicates that the clock has detected a radio signal and is trying to receive it. When the time code is received, the WWVB tower becomes static and a Wave OK icon will appear on the display. If the tower icon flashes, but does not set the time and date, then please take note of the following:

Recommended distance to any interfering sources like computer monitors or TV sets is a minimum of 6 feet (2meters).
Within Ferro-concrete rooms (basements, superstructures), the received signal is naturally weakened. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a window and! or point Its front or back towards the Fort Collins, Colorado, transmitter.
During nighttime, the atmospheric disturbances are usually less severe and reception is possible in most cases. A single daily reception is adequate to keep the accuracy deviation below 1 second.

Note:In case the Atomic Alarm Clock is not able to detect the WWVB-signal (disturbances, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can be manually set (please refer to notes on Manual time setting).

MANUAL SETTINGS

Note: WAVEOK Icon-indicates positive WWVB reception. If the Atomic Alarm Clock has already successfully received the WWVB time signal and displays the correct time and date, then the Manual settings can be omitted. After completion of the previous procedures in "Setting up" the manual setting modes can be entered. The following settings can now be programmed:

During reception attempts the WWVB tower icon will flash. WWVB time reception takes place at 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM, and ends at 4:00PM each day (attempts WWVB reception every full hour within this time frame). The other times WWVB reception takes place are upon setup and after pressing the Month/Hour/Wave button for 2 seconds Reception is generally not possible during daylight hours due to the interference of the sun. DST SETTING (daylight saving time) Press and hold "Alarm/ZONE/DST" button for 2 seconds to select the DST function. The DST icon right of the tower indicates that this function is ON. Note: The DST default is "ON", meaning that the WWVB will automatically change the time according to Daylight Saving Time in the Spring and Fall. For areas that do not recognize DST changes (Arizona and parts of Indiana) turn the DST "OFF". All other areas DST needs to be ON. 12/24 HOURS TIME DISPLAY SETTING Press "DATE/MIN/12/24" button for 2 seconds to choose 12 or 24 Hr display format. °C OR °F TEMPERATURE SETTING Press "YEAR/SEC/°C/°F " button for 2 seconds to choose Celsius or Fahrenheit format for temperature. This model will update the indoor temperature everyminute.

SNOOZE/LIGHT SETTING

The snooze can only be activated during alarm time for a snooze duration of 5 minutes by pressing the top snooze bar. Press "SNOOZE/LIGHT" button at any time to turn on the display light and it will last for 5 seconds

Setting alarm time

1. At normal time mode, slide the setting switch to ALM SET, then it will enter the alarm setting mode.First for setting AL1. 2. Press "MONTH/HOUR/WAVE" button until the correct alarm Hour is selected. 3. Press "DATE/MINUTE/12/24" button until the correct alarm Minute is selected. 4. Press "ALM/ZONE/DST" button to change the AL1 setting mode to AL2 setting mode. 5. Set the AL2 alarm time as step 2) and 3). 6. Slide the setting switch to LOCK to confirm.

Alarm On/Off and Snooze

At normal time mode, slide the ALARM switch to AL 1 ON to turn on AL 1 and the icon will appear on the display.
Slide the ALARM switch to AL2 ON to turn on AL2 and the icon will appear on the display.
Slide the ALARM switch to ALL-ON to turn on AL 1 and AL2 and both the icons will appear on the display.
Slide the ALARM switch to OFF to turn off AL 1 and AL2 and the icon both icons will disappear from the display.
The unit will ring 1 minute if the alarm time arrives, press any button (except "SNOOZE/LlGHT" button), can stop the ring; press "SNOOZE/LIGHT" button can stop the current ring and activate the snooze function with the icon flashing, then it will ring again every 5 minutes.

Setting the Time and Time Zone

At normal time mode, slide the SETTING switch to TIME, then it will enter the time setting mode.
Press "MONTH/HOUR/WAVE" button until the correct Hour is selected.
Press "DATE/MINUTE/12/24" button until the correct Minute is selected.
Press "YEAR/SEC/°C/°F" button to reset the current second to zero.
Press "ALM/ZONE/DST" button to choose your time zone if needed. The default time zone is PST.
Slide the SETTING switch to LOCK to confirm.

Note: The unit will still try and receive the signal every day despite it being manually set. When it does receive the signal, it will change the manually set time into the received time. Setting the Calendar

At normal time mode, slide the SETTING switch to CAL SET, and then it will enter the calendar setting mode. .
Press "YEAR/SEC/°C/°F" button until the correct Year is selected.
Press "MONTH/HOUR/WAVE" button until the correct Month is selected.
Press "DATE/MINUTE/12/24" button until the correct Date is selected.
Press "ALM/ZONE/DST" button to change the date display mode between Month/Date and Date/Month.
Slide the SETTING switch to LOCK to confirm.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE:

- Avoid placing the unit in areas prone to vibration and shock as these may cause damage.
- Avoid areas where the unit can be exposed to sudden changes in temperature, i.e. direct sunlight, extreme cold and wet/moist conditions as these will lead to rapid changes which reduces the accuracy of readings.
- When cleaning the LCD and casing, use a soft damp cloth only. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
- Do not submerge the unit into water.
- Immediately remove all low powered batteries to avoid leakage and damage. Replace only with new batteries of the recommended size.
- Do not make any repairs to the unit. Please return it to the original point of purchase. Opening and tampering with the unit may invalidate the warranty.
