The Acu-Rite 00984 Wireless Remote Temperature Sensor can be used with the with the Acu-Rite 00592W, 00593W Wireless Weather Stations. Each of these products can work with up to three 00984 remotes. The 00984 has its own LCD panel for local viewing. This remote is best used as a wall-mounted sensor because its base is slightly rounded, which makes it somewhat unstable on a horizontal surface.
The Acu-Rite 00984 Wireless Remote Temperature Sensor has a white, weather-resistant case. It also has its own temperature display (not illuminated) for local viewing. Maximum transmission range of this sensor is 100 feet. It's best to hang the 00984 on a wall because it's slightly rounded at the bottom and thus not entirely stable when resting on a horizontal surface.

In its battery compartment, the 00984 has a button that selects either °F or °C for its own temperature display. Regardless of the temperature unit selected on the 00984, the associated main station displays temperatures in the unit for which it is optioned. A second button labeled TX in the battery compartment initiates temperature data transmission. The red LED on the front of the 00984 lights when transmission is occurring.

Unlike some remotes, the 00984 has no channel switch. If you are using multiple 00984s, you power up the main unit first. You then power up and initiate transmission from the 00984 you want to be Channel 1. You next do this for the Channel 2 00984 and finally for the Channel 3 00984 (if used). If you are using mixed 00984 and other remotes, you'll need to set the channel switches on the remotes that have them before powering them up and initiating transmission in the desired channel order.

The temperature measuring range of the 00984 is -4°F to +122°F (-20°C to +50°C) when equipped with alkaline batteries. Temperature resolution is 0.1°F/C.

The 00984 remote sensor can transmit up to 100 feet (30 meters) in an open area with no interference. Normal walls should not reduce this range by much, but metal and heavy concrete walls can reduce the range significantly. Even though the 00984 is water-resistant, it is not waterproof and should be mounted in a location where it is protected from direct sunlight and direct precipitation (and this is stated on the back of the package).

For powering, the 00984 requires two AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries (not included). Expected battery life is about 1 year. If temperatures are expected to remain significantly below freezing for an extended time, we recommend using lithium AAA batteries instead of alkaline. The display on the remote may fade, but the remote should continue measuring and sending temperature data. When the temperature warms back up, the display will return.

This compact remote temperature sensor is ideal for practically any indoor or outdoor application that does not require a probe. Use it outdoors or in your wine cellar, garage, basement or crawl space, children's room, garden, greenhouse, or any other location where remote temperature readings are beneficial.
